An
Awareness that reaches Beyond the Self
The most accurate gauge of the success or failure of any endeavor
is in the behavior and attitudes of the target group. We are proud
to report that children from Bal Panchayat project have done well
for themselves. They have participated enthusiastically in all our
program aimed at developing their capacity. Many have grown up to
pursue higher studies or take up jobs and are responsible citizens.
Most importantly, their awareness has grown beyond the immediate concerns
of self, family and community to the world beyond. When one group
recently came across some children of construction laborers playing
in the dirt outside their neighborhood, they spontaneously took up
a collection of money and donated their old textbooks to start a makeshift
school for children and their parents. They are well on their way
to growing up towards becoming independent and capable adults who
will be an asset to society. |
